Heat Treater / Coating Trainee

Primary Purpose and Function

The primary function of this position is to maintain the grounds, facility, equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations and our policies and procedures. Also take direction from supervision to assure a successful wastewater treatment system is always maintained.


Knowledge and Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required.

  • At least 1 year experience.

  • 2 -4 years of previous experience with wastewater treatment system.

  • Previous experience with chemical procedures to treat water

  • Ability to make critical adjustments and operate independently

  • Basic computer skills, including P.C knowledge and current technology software familiarity.

  • Ability to use ordinary arithmetic, charts, and tables.

  • Ability to make simple use of charts, tables and specifications.

  • Requires interpretation skills for various tests, use and checking or reports, form records and comparable data.

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and can follow verbal and written instructions well.

  • Quality and safety focused.

  • Able to work any shift assigned.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Maintain Compliant Water going to the city by the following:

    • Maintaining proper PH control Levels

    • Adjust flow fluid controls

    • Adjust Chemical metering pumps

    • Add Hazardous Chemicals when needed

    • Maintain Logbook – flows / pump settings

    • Ability to go up and down 12 flights of stairs several times per day.

    • General knowledge of basic PVC pipe

    • Ability to use General tools.  Wrenches & Screwdrivers

    • Clean out Filter Press

  • Ability to Drive a Forklift

  • Maintain a clean Work area

  • Maintain Proper Barrel Line Chemical Levels in Tanks

  • Retrieve Chemical Samples from Barrel Line tanks

  • Use Titration Methods for tank testing

  • Adjust Chemical Metering pumps for proper Chemical Levels

  • Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies, and practices, such as utilizing personal protective equipment and proper attire in keeping with safety standards.


Physical Demands

  • Ability to regularly stand or work for long periods of time.

  • Ability to regularly lift/or move up to ten (10) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and occasionally lift to fifty (50) pounds.

  • While performing the job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration, repetitive motion, bending, lifting, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing and/or pulling.

  • Ability to endure heat.
